Frog line-up

Ever since Victor was a toddler, he has always been into lining things up. I think he craves the feeling of having complete control by keeping things as organized as possible.  Also, being able to sit back and admire his work and keep track of everything is very important.  When he was in his terrible two's and we were on a play date, he would become absolutely devastated and cry inconsolably if someone dared rearrange his perfect line-up. Now, he just gets nervous and starts to whine. What a difference a year or two can make!
Here he is in the "bug tree house" of his bedroom, lining up his favorite frogs.  He was either pretending that they were in a gift shop at a natural science museum and some really nice person, like myself, was going to buy them as a present for a lucky little boy, named Victor's birthday. Either that or that these frogs are poisonous tree frogs of the Amazon rain forest, and just one of these little guys can kill 100 people, but he is a special scientist who is immune to their venom and can handle them as he pleases.  You see, these frogs like him because they know he is trying to help the rain forest and therefore, won't hurt him.
Our talented friend, Dan, painted the "Victor" art in his bedroom when V was just a newborn.  Isn't it great?  It's adds so much character to the small space. I love it and am trying to get him to do an "Ivan" one, too.

So adorable. Does he actually pretend to be a scientist who is saving the rain forest? What a great thing to pretend. And I love that the frogs don't poison him out of respect for his work. Too hilarious.

We have read a lot of books about creatures of the rain forest and how many are endangered because they are cutting down so many trees. This has him very concerned, because he doesn't not want his precious creatures going extinct. He doesn't actually pretend to save the rain forest, it is just part of his scientist persona to be a nature lover.

That is really cute. Probably we shouldn't tell him too much yet about the state of the environment. It would just frighten him.
